Saturday

So we made it through another Saturday workout and I bet were all feeling great right?? No?? Well I think we've done a great job so far and we've all gained something out of this experience.
Last night Katie came over and we made burgers for the kids and we had veggies and burgers with no buns. Yummy!!!
This morning obviously we went to the work out and did awesome and I just made low carb pancakes with zucchini and sugar free syrup. Ill be back.

checking back in

Hi, so ive cleaned up my backyard and I had a spinach salad for lunch and drank two more 8.5 oz cups of water and im kinda relaxing for today. I dont want to burn myself out for tomorrow :) Im not sure what im going to do for dinner yet but im going to keep it light.

Fridy

Ok I was super busy yesterday and did horribly on my "scheduel" Im trying to set up. I went on a long bike ride yesterday and had a cup of coffee and a yogurt smoothie, then by the time I got back its was around 11:30 and I had to do some running around so I had another smoothie and a cheese stick and a handfull of nuts. Then I knocked down a fence in by back yard and had to get eady for my weight lift class. I had no energy at all which is because I ate really badly. I had achicken ceasar sald for dinner with a yogurt and a little whipped cream for dessert.
So far today I had a cup of coffee and two eggs with some garlic and mushrooms. I have already had two 8.5 oz cups of water and Im about to clean up the mess I made with the fence in the back yard. Ill be back later :)

Wed. night

Ok Katie and I went to the gym and did the stair climber for 30 min. and man I still cant believe how hard that thing is. For dinner I had a chicken breast and veggies with a little spinach side salad. I drank alot more water today than I did yesterday so im hoping that helps a little. Hopefully I went back down to what I was and maybe a little extra ;p Im going to down some more water before I go to bed so I get a bunch more than yesterday. In the morning Im going for a bike ride again and then ive got weight training at night. I want t start another class to mix it up alittle so I think on mon. im going to do a kickboxing class. See you tomorrow.

Checking in

hey just a quick check in, I went up a pound :( but im still working out hard and watching what I eat so well see. I didnt get to do my class last night I went to watch Brooke play tennis (yea Brooke!) and then I ate a big salad kinda late so maybe that was it. Well see. Im going to the gym tonight and ive eaten small consistant meals today and drank lots of water. So ill check back later. Im not getting deterred by my set backs Im just going to keep pushing foward.

Back again

Ok so I did a search on plateau's and stalls on a low carb diet and I found a good website http://www.lowcarb.ca/tips/tips008.html and it said that I might not be actually stalled but still losing inches and replacing fat with muscle. Also it said I might not be drinking enough water or not eating enough. So my plan for tomorrow is to eat breakfast (2 eggs with cheese) around 8:30 am then I was going to ride my bike to Starbucks and get a coffee and ride back (7 miles +\-) then ill have a snack around 10:00 all the while drinking lots of water and then eat a salad for lunch and then a snack around 3:00 or 4:00 and then dinner around 6:00 I'm also going to try to cut back on my caffeine intake so only a coffee in the morning and a diet coke at lunch.
I went back to the gym this evening and went on the treadmill for 32 min 188 calories. Then I made a simple chicken and vegetable dinner. Tomorrow like I said I will be riding my bike and then I will do my weight class at night. I will take my measurement in the morning after my ride and let you know if they have changed at all.

Monday

Another monday and I havent droped weight, still steady at 166 lbs. which I guess is a good thing beacuse I havent gone back up but still a little dissapointing. Going to do a little reasearch on what the problem might be. Maybe im not on a good eating schedule so I might be back later with a menu plan. So far today Ive had a little bit of soy milk and then for lunch I had a spinach salad with chicken. I did fo to the gym already and added 10 min to my cardio routine so that a total of 60 min on the elipticle 630 calories and then I did a bunch of different situps and im planning on going back this afternoon so ill be back later with an update.

Sunday

Hello, Today was a bit busy so I'm a little late. This morning I went to breakfast and had an omelet again and a coffee (10 crbs) and then we went on the boat. I really wasn't hungry so I didn't eat anything while we were on the water but I did have 3 beers Michelob Ultra's (2.6 crbs each) then my husband planned dinner and he got lobster and they had Alfredo sauce and noodles and I made my low carb noodles with some garlic butter and olive oil with asparagus (7 crbs) So a little high but hey its sunday and I didn't completely blow it.
This week I plan on really picking up the pace with my cardio because I need to push myself. I feel like I can do more so its time to do so. I also am going to try to do a few more classes and maybe mix it up a little. I'm not sure why Ive stalled already but I just need to push through and definitely not give up.
So how do I feel on this diet and exercise plan? Well first off I feel a lot better about myself even though I have a long way to go but I feel healthier and more energetic. I don't feel that carb overload that I used to get, bloated, crabby, tired, and just plan fat. the only problem I'm have physically is my knee right now. I feel very fit but I'm frustrated that I cant do more and I feel like pushing harder but I'm afraid to because I don't want to be completely out of the game. But I love not feeling controlled but my cravings and my appetite. I really don't have much of one anymore and I'm not binging on crappy foods anymore and better yet I don't even miss them all that much.....yes I still would love that ice cream but I know that by the time I'm done with this journey an ice cram is going to be the last thing I'm thinking about.

Good evening, Tonight I had low carb pasta (6 crbs) and grilled shrimp (0 crbs) with broccoli (2 crbs) Not bad right? Well im watching a movie right now so bye bye. :)

Saturday afternoon

Hi guys so I got on the scale this morning and it was 166 again :( I just hope I havent stalled for to long here. I has a coffee and a yogurt for breakfast before the workout this morning. I was really off my game todya at the workout, My knee was killing me and I just felt tired the whole time. Really got to pick up the pace this week. If I can swing it Im going to do cardio every day this week. I am going to take tomorrow off. I think were going on the boat so if its not to cold Ill do some laps in the water. After the workout I headed to the farmers market and picked up some zucchini and im going to make low carb zucchini muffins so I can grab and go. I had some smoked salmon there and another coffee. After that we went to the Art show and all I had there was some sauteed artichoke hearts. yummy. Right now I just had a spinach salad. I think were having grilled shrimp for dinner but ill come back later and check in.
I need to figure out some knee stretches or exercises because its really annoying me lately. I feel like Im not doing as much as I can because of it. I did notice that Itwas alot easier to do the pushups today so maybe its time to push myself into real pushup. Like Mindy and Livio said 95% is in your head.

Back again

Hey, I did pretty good today I really only had my brunch and then a lillt later on I had a yogurt smoothie (4 crbs) and right now I had a cheese stick and Im munching on some peanuts :) Not sure what Im going to have for dinner yet but ill let you know.
I wentto the gym this afternoon and did 50 min of cardio on the elipticle (535 calories) and then sat in the sauna a little. Not sure If I need to mix up my routeen a little or if I just paused for a little. It does tend to happen when you drop quickly so I think for now Ill just hang in there for a little while longer. Hopefully tomorrow Ill see a little change on the scale.

Missed a day sorry :(

Hi guys sorry I missed yesterday, It was a weird day I was really unmotivated and I didnt do horribly but wasent very motivated to do much. I did my class last night and am sore today andI had a coffee this morning (3 crbs) and just ate brunch whic was a Bacado omelette from First Watch with bacon, avacado, sour cream and salsa Id estimate about 8 crbs. Ive weighd in at 166 for the past 3 days which is good because it hasent gone up but honestly its disaapointing because it hasent moved! But thats ok is been an off week for me. Ill be back later.

Crappy dinner

So I really wasent hungry for lunch so I had a yogurt and a beef stick and then we were supposed to go to dinner tonight and we wanted to try Porkeys and man was it horrible. I had a steak and got a side salad with what was supposed to be mixed veggies and they were but they were canned mixed veggies that looked like they'd been sitting around for a couple days ....ewwwww... so anyway i had only the amount of carb that were in my salad and those Ive found dont affect me like simple carbs so I normally dont really count them. anyway dont ever go there.

Day 9

Hello, well today I went to the gym this morning and did my cardio on the elipticle 55 min 500 calories. I didnt have much energy so just getting that done was difficult but I did it. I was actually hungry this morning so I had 2 eggs with little sauteed spinach (3 crbs) 2 sausages (2 crbs) and 2 pieces of bacon (0 crbs) and then I had a yogurt smoothie (4 crbs) 8 carbs so far and Im not hungry for lunch so Ill probably have something small for lunch. My mother inlaw is coming in for my husbands birthday and were supposed to go out to dinner tonight so well see what I have tonight.
Did I tell you I had steak and asparagus for dinner last night? And I weighed in this morning at 166 lbs. again :)

Back Again

Hello, So yesterday was my husbands birthday so we had shrimp scampie for dinner and a ceasar salad. Now I replaced the regular pasta with a low carb for a total of probably 10 carbs total for the pasta, shrimp and salad. Then they had a carrot cake and I had a low carb yogurt with some whipped cream mixed in (dont knock it till you try it) I did go to the gym and went on the elipticle for 55 min and then did situps.
Today I made low carb pancakes for breakfast with 3 sausages ( 7 crbs) then for lunch I had a cobb salad (5 crbs) now im getting ready to go to my weight class and not sure what to have for dinner but ill let you know.

Its monday!

That means Ive been on this diet for a week and I feel really good. Ive lost 7 lbs according to my scale. Not bad for 1 weekn lets hope I can keep it up. I didnt eat dinner last night but I had 2 jello's w/whipped cream (2 crbs) and a glass of soy milk (1 crb) so I did pretty good yesterday.
The scale went up one pound today but obviously that fluctuates from day to day so I really check everyday more to keep me accountable because I do realize that it varies. today I made eggs with broccoli, cheese, and turkey (4 crbs) and coffee with whipped cream (3 crbs).
Today is my husbands birthday but were keeping it low key. I'm getting ready to go to the gym for my cardio right now, aiming for 50 min or more on the elipticle. And I think today Im gong to add in some situps like im supposed to anyway. Lets aim for 50 ok? Ill be back later

Hey. having a really lazy day today. I ate two salads today for a total of about 10 crbs and im not really hungry tonight so i might just have something small but not really sure yet.

I took my measurements and here is my changes so far.
Start Curent
  • Bicep - 14" 12" = 2" loss
  • Chest - 36" 34" = 2" loss
  • Hips - 40" 40" = 0" loss
  • Thigh - 26" 24" = 2" loss
  • Waist - 35" 32" = 3" loss

Not too bad, 9" loss so far. So far today Ive had a cup of coffee(3 crbs) and a few pieces of bacon (maybe 1 crb) I found another website that you can look up nutritinal information and do some other things as well www.calorieking.com Ill be back later.

Sunday morning

Good Morning! Well I'm loving the scale right now, 166.2 lbs.! Yesterday was super busy. I did pretty good at the party but I'm not quite sure what my carb count was. I had a burger patty with some taco dip on top and a couple of pieces of cheese, a hot dog (no buns of course) a few slices of pickle and 2 Atkins bars. I have to be really careful of those bars because the sugar alcohols really turn my stomach if I have to much. I didn't have any dinner last night and we decided last minute to go out and I had a glass of wine and 2 vodka tonics so I'm pretty sure I had too many carbs but we danced so hard I'm pretty sure I burned of any extra calories & carbs I may have consumed.
Yesterdays workout was great! Thanks for kicking our buts Livio and Erica :) I would love to go workout today but my knee is really bothering me and I don't want to hurt it too much so that it hinders my normal schedule. But well see I might feel better later and end up going. its so pretty outside I'm thinking the beach sounds good today. I'm going to take my measurement a little later on and ill re post with results. Bye Bye for now.

Quick Post

Hey guys just poping infor a quick update. 167.8 BABY!! Got up this morning and got on the scale and felt great, went to boot camp and they kicked our butts into gear this morning. Thanks Livio and Erica! all ive has so far today is a yogurt smoothie (4 crbs) and water and a dietlipton green tea. Its going to be a busy daytoday with birthday parties and stuff but ill probably just have a burger patty or a hot dog. Ill try to post later on. Bye

Back again :)

Hello all! Hope you had a good Friday. Well I did well today I had a grilled Mahi Caesar Salad for lunch (6g crbs) and then before I had to go feed a bunch of kids ice cream I had a chocolate shake (2 crbs) and for dinner I had grilled Italian chicken (0 crbs) and vegetables (4 Crbs) so for today Ive had a total of 12 crbs. Now I found some yogurt and yogurt smoothies at the walmart grocery store that are Dannon light and fit sugar and carb control and the yogurt only has 3 crbs and the smoothie only has 4 crbs. Good for snacks and for breakfast on the run. I am a busy mom so anything that makes meal times easier and less hectic I am all about.
Well I think since I did well today I will treat myself to a dessert. Jello and whipped cream :) (1 crb) yummy.
I'm looking forward to Saturday morning work out Cambier and then a busy weekend. Cooking class should be fun hope to see you all there. Oh yea did I say I made it to class last night? Anyway I did. Well see how things go in the morning.
I feel a little better this afternoon. Its crazy how a little setback can make you feel so vulnerable. I'm reading a book that kind of hits home regarding dieting, Its called "The Weight Loss Diaries" by Courtney Rubin and its a journal of her issues with food and yo-yo dieting and binge eating and I'm reading this book and I keep stopping and thinking, this could be a book about me! Maybe I'm not the only person who obsesses over food and cant understand how skinny people can eat anything and better yet stop eating anything whenever they want to. If I don't have control I give in to my cravings and Bam! just like that Ive ruined everything and its all back, every blasted last pound I struggled so hard to loose. Anyhow I really suggest it if your interested in a good read. So here's to the future and all the opportunities a healthy lifestyle will bring. Good Night

Its Friday!

hello all and happy friday! Last night I went to my weight class and really pushed myself and boy am I feeling it today! I got home and didnt do so great for dinner I had a chicken quesidilla and although it was on low carb wraps it was too much. it ended up being about 15 crbs and thats way to much right now for dinner. I got on the scale this morning and was up a pound :( 170) but im not giving up at all. I havent eaten anything today Im feeling crabby and depressed and to top it all off I have to go to an ice cream party at my sons school this afternoon! Just what I need right now is more temptations. So ill probably make a shake out of my chocolate soy milk bebefore hand so im not so tempted. Im really tired today and have no motavation to do anything.....

Feeling good - Day 4

Hello there :) Woke up this morning really tired and its persisted most of the day I had a cup of coffee this morning (3 crbs) and actually felt a little hungry today. I weighed myself this morning and was the same as yesterday which is fine because Its weight that I lost that has stayed off and thats the point right. When I got home I made some eggs just like yesterday but I put less spinach and only 1 tbs. sour cream so its a total of 5 crbs. So far today thats 8 crbs.
I am realizing that I forget to drink water alot so I really need to pay attention to that. I picked up a couple of low carb cookbooks at a used bookstore and I would totally recomend looking at your used bookstores for diet books and cookbooks before you pay full price at the bookstore. I picked up books that would have cost me $25 a piece for $2.50 a piece. Not bad.
So the points I have to work on are eating on time consistantly and drinking more water.
Today im a little bloated, if you know what I mean, but Im going to go to my weight training class tonight, Im really upset at myself for missing tuesdays class. I also have to start doing more situps. Right now Im only doing them 3 times a week and Mindy and Livio suggested everyday so I guess I need to pick it up a little bit. Be back later. Day 3 Journal

Sorry I'm a little late today but I made it. today should be my last day of cravings but I really haven't had any this time so I'm going to be careful. Finally feeling a little better today but I still didn't have much of an appetite. Anyway some great news is that I weighed myself this morning and got a 169.o lbs.!! That's a total of 5 lbs. since Monday.


- Today I had a coffee for breakfast for a total of 3 crbs.I ate eggs for lunch today around 2:00 with 1 tbs. butter (0 crbs) 2 garlic cloves (0 crbs) 1/4c of spinach (1 crb) 1 tbs. onions (1 crb.) 2 slices of turkey (0 crbs) 1/2c egg beaters (2 crbs.) 1/4c shredded cheese (1 crb.) 2 tbs. sour cream (2 crbs) that gives me a total of 6 crbs

- Tonight I had 2 Teriyaki chicken breast for a total of 8 crbs and a spinach salad with Italian dressing for a total of 4 crbs. I found some sugar free soy milk at publix that has 1 carb per serving. They have chocolate and vanilla so I had a cup of the soy milk and mixed it with ice in a blender and a little bit of whipped cream on top (2 crbs).

So my total carbs for the day were 20. Right on track. So how am I feeling? Well I've dropped about 5 lbs. in 3 day and I feel less bloated and honestly I feel like I'm less attached to food. I am not thinking about my next meal, the next snack, craving desserts or anything. So I'm feeling pretty good. I feel like Ive lost my dependence on food. Obviously I still need to eat to live but I don't feel like I have to have those chips, or that cookie so I feel......relieved......I did make it to the gym today and did my cardio on the elliptical for a total of 50 min 550 calories. todays Pics

Ok so today I haven't felt good at all and I really haven't eaten anything which isn't good but whatever. I have had a cheese stick (1g crb) and some peanuts (5g crbs 2g dietary fiber= 3g crbs). Ok I took the pictures and am posting below.


I hate looking at myself but its necessary. I did make it to the gym this morning and did 30 min on the elliptical for 300 calories. Hopefully ill make it tonight to the weight training class but not to sure yet. Ill post again later.

Day two of Low carbing it.

Good Morning,
Ok so last night I ate exactly what I said I would and I don't know if its cause I'm sick but I really have no cravings and very little appetite. I'm not complaining :) So I got on my scale at home and its a little different than the one at my gym but since I want to weigh myself in the mornings its what I have to deal with. I think its about 2lbs. less than the one at my gym. Anyway my weight this morning was 172.0 lbs on the dot so for the purposes of consistency I will be going off of this one. I'm really not that hungry this morning so I'm going to eat breakfast a little later and I'm going to go for 1/2 c of egg beaters instead of 3/4c so that will bring my carbs down a little bit. I will update my blog with the correct amounts when I make my eggs. Right now when i cook something I am marking down the amount in a notebook so I can accurately compute my carbs when I update here. I will take a picture in a little bit and post it so if your checking out my blog let me know if you see a difference in the pics. Like I said I haven't really been seeing and Numbers on the scale drop but people have said that I look like I'm losing weight so I'm hoping that I'm toning up a lot. But I'm asking for your feedback because I know I'm harsher on myself than anyone else might be and I also know its harder for me to see any difference. I'm hoping by posting here and reading your feedback I might be able to alter my self image by listing and looking at the differences you all see that I might not normally notice so any feedback at all is appreciated. Starting picture

Hey I wanted to post my starting picture that I turned in at the beginning of the competition. Ill take a picture in the morning with my weight since I forgot today :) So here goes kinda embarrassing but oh well.

well that was at 177 lbs. so well se how tomorrows pics look.

lunch time

Ok so like I said I ate alot for breakfast so I really wasn't hungry for snack or even lunch so I waited till afternoon and I had a handful of peanuts (5g crbs and 3g of dietary fiber) but it was only 1/2 a serving for a total of 1.5g crbs. then I had 2 bratwurst (2g crbs each) with a tbsp of mustard (0g crbs) for a total of 4 crbs and a string cheese stick (1g crbs). So my entire mid afternoon snack/late lunch was 6.5 crbs. a little high but that's ok I am trying to keep my carbs low and be able to maintain this. So far today my total is 15.5g crbs. Not bad... usually I try to save most of my carbs for dinnertime but I'm really not hungry today so I'm not to worried.
Now I haven't been able to work out today which is disappointing to me, I am fighting a cold right now and I haven't been able to stop sneezing all day! So very annoying...... Anyway as long as I'm feeling better I plan on going in the morning to the gym to do an hour of cardio on the elliptical machine and then in the afternoon I do the bodypump class which is a weight training class that really kicks my butt. So my plan for dinner tonight is chicken breast marinated in Italian dressing (1g crb) my favorite and grilled with some mixed vegetables (6g crbs 2g dietary fiber for a total of 4 crbs) so my total for the day will be 20.5g crbs. pretty much right on my goal and I'm not even hungry. Yea! ok ill talk to you later.

One more thing....

Oh yea I forgot two other staples for the low carb dieter.....Sugar free Jello and whipped cream and make sure its heavy cream. The jello has 0 crbs and the whipped cream has<1 per tbs. good for the sweet tooth....

Day 1 0f the low carb diet

Alright it begins now! ok well in reality it began about a half an hour ago.... I'm going to try a couple of ways of doing this so this will be a little bit of a trial blog day. I'm hoping that me writing down what i eat will keep me in check especially during the first couple of days. Now this is not my first rodeo with a low carb diet and I really don't follow a specific diet ,i.e. Atkins or south beach etc., I have done my home work and had my trial and error runs with this diet so I'm pretty well versed in what i need to do. Ill try to give some little tidbits of knowledge that Ive come up with along the way.

**Disclaimer: Please remember that this is my personal view on my low carb diet and to always consult your doctor before starting any diet***

First off keep some quick snacks around that are acceptable to eat when you get that urge that most of us dieters get in the beginning to gorge cause your sooooo hungry right now and cant wait to make something. Some great examples would be string cheese, i know sounds childish but when you want something now its the easiest snack to keep around at the office in a lunch box or mini fridge and you know your kids love it so get a bunch. I usually get it at Costco in bulk, my son likes it for lunch and its a perfect mid morning/afternoon snack. Another good snack to keep around is lunch meat, any kind is ok but if you get processed ones like Bologna look at the nutritional info and try to keep you net carbs really low. Remember that most of the low carb diets out there have you keep below 20 total carbs per day for two weeks. Now to get that number you look at the total carbohydrates and minus the dietary fiber and if it applies you minus the sugar alcohols also. That will give you the actual net carbs in the product. In the beginning you want to limit your fruit if not exclude it altogether. Now I have a grapefruit tree in my yard that has great fruit on it. now grapefruit has a very low carb count and I'm sure most of you have heard all about how grapefruits are good for burning fat so i include it when i know I wont be eating a large amount of carbs for the day. Some other good snacks to have around are nuts but you have to be careful of which nuts your eat and like they told us at the workout on sat. you need to measure out the serving amount as well. Not only for carb count but fat count.
Now like I said before I really don't follow one specific low carb diet I kind of combine a few along with common knowledge of healthy eating. Its a common misnomer that low carb is all about eating only meat loaded with fat. You do eat more meat but poultry is a great substitute and its lower in fat, also pork chops are a good option and remember green veggies are great as well as cauliflower and salad. Now when it comes to dressing be careful because usually when it is low fat it is higher in carbs because they add sugar to make up for the lack of taste when they get rid of the fat. Remember to measure out your portions and look at the nutritional facts printed on all foods. Because even if you see <1 class="blsp-spelling-error" id="SPELLING_ERROR_17">carb, its per serving and it might be .99 carbs which is practically 1 so that's usually what I count them as. Now if you google low carb recipe you'll get about a dozen different websites and honestly any will do fine. You will want to find a website that has a list of what carbs are in what foods. I just did a search for low carb count and found a counter easily so here's the link for that one but there are plenty others out there http://www.lowcarbfriends.com/carbcounter.shtml
There are many options out there for low carb and Ive done my research and have come to the conclusion that this diet works because is goes back to the fundamentals of food, Meat, Veggies and healthy portions. As with all diets there are limits. Just because you can eat and entire cow doesn't mean you should! And as with all diets your have to control some aspects of the diet. With this one it is carbs. I just find that I am a carb addict and this diet is the one that works for me. Remember as with all diets its great to keep a food diary to keep track of what you eat throughout the day.
So for breakfast today I had eggs, not just eggs though and i will walk you through my eggs. Now today I ate a little bit more than normal because I know the first days are the hardest, they say that it take about 3 days for your body to regulate your sugars and beat the cravings and I've found that that's about how long I have to fight with myself over my cravings. Which is why I eat a little bit more in the beginning because it helps to be full to ignore the cravings.
-Ok First of is about a tbs. of butter or margarine whichever you prefer. I then added some minced garlic and onions and sauteed them. total carbs so far is about 2, garlic has about .93 carbs per tsp. and I only used 2 cloves and onions have a little more (about 3 crbs in a 1/4" thick slice but I only put a few diced onions in and sauteed them)
-next was 1/2 cup of egg beaters which have about 1 crb per 1/4 c so thats 2 crbs
-next I added about 2 slices of turkey, just lunch meat, and 2 slices of turke is 0 crbs!
-then I added some pre-shredded cheese, I like the mexican blend for some flavor variety. 1/4c is 2 carbs.
-I also had some coffee with splenda and whipped cream, for a total of 3 carbs :)
So my total breakfast count is 9 which is really high but like I said writing it down make you aware of it. So now for lunch I will be having lunch meat and string cheese which is fine with me.
Ok another little note to remember is that certain medicines contain carbs as well and as im sick right now I have to pay attention to what I take. I had some alka-seltzer cold medicine which has no carbs that I could find in it but be careful.
Also remember to limit your caffeine intake and drink as much water as possible. I always keep a full bottle next to me. I am a diet coke addict so I try (try being the operative word) to limit my diet coke to 1 a day usually with lunch. Also I love seltzer water, or as my son calls it spicy water lol :) and it gives me a little more variety than just plain water and you can get different flavors and its cheep so yea for a change. Ok Ive been blabbing for a while so ill be back later for my lunch update. and like I said I ate more for breakfast so i skipped my snack cause I'm not hungry at all. Please comment and if you have questions ask and I will help as much as I can. Oh yea I try to weigh myself in the morning at the same time each day to keep myself accountable. Saturday workout

Well were done with another early morning workout and I feel really good but have encountered some minor setback. Last week I pulled my hip and worked through it and by mon it felt fine but it seamed that it hurt my knee more than my hip...weird...anyway it seams as if im bound to hurt myself, its a pretty common occourence for me. anyway im a bit of a mess this week to. So my knee was still hurting and i steped in a hole during our indian runs, which I love by the way, so im limping Again this week. But its ok. I have the rest of my life to nurse my injuries and only now to succed in my goals. Ill tell you what im not looking foward to this challenge ending because Im really enjoying it. I dont know what ill do with my sat. mornings after this. Its a whole new outlook when you know your making a difference in your body and your health and pushing youself to be the best you an be (I sound like a freeking army commercial lol)
So I really am noticing how bad I am wih my diet even though im alot better than I have been. I really need to put together a strick low carb diet so that I can control myself better. I really am dissapointing myself. not with the exercising but my self control. I know I cand this but I guess after all he time ive done it ive never been able to keep it off. So I guess I dont really believe in myself...wow revelation time huh...... but have to do it! I can do it! Its my time to succeed and if I cant count on myself who else can I count on right? Well im 29 years old & want this year to be the last year I vow to loose weight! Next year I want my resolution to be something fun like go diving in Australia or something... so here we go right the beginning of the rest of my life...lol. im a regular greeting card factory today. ok signing off for now. see you & good luck to you all.

The Beginning

OK, so this is my first blog and I guess ill just start with introducing myself. My name is Alexa, I'm married with a 6 year old son. Ive struggled with my body image most of my life but was able to deal with it pretty well and like most people looking back I really had no reason for it. I guess I just never really felt like I fit in. I'm 5'9" tall and have been this tall since middle school. Throughout High School I was around 125 - 135 lbs. Most people would think that was skinny for my height but I never really looked skinny, and I knoe this is true because even though ive gained 40+ lbs. ive only gained 3 pant sizes at the most. I was more of an athletic built and I guess me being an active person was the reason. Ive all ways done many different things like horseback riding, water skiing, riding dirt bikes and four wheelers, I was a swimmer, played softball, etc. so I pretty much kept right around that weight till I settled down with my husband and started a full time Career, I say career because all my jobs before that were stand up jobs so I kept moving all day. Once I began a desk job the weight started to slowly pack on. Its always been really hard for me to notice when I've started to gain weight because with my height and build its pretty well distributed all over. So here is the point where I say I gained most of the weight with my pregnancy right? wrong, I cant blame him for that. During my pregnancy I gained a total of about 10 lbs. after having lost 20 in the beginning. I was sick throughout my entire pregnancy so I tried really hard to eat healthy when I could actually eat. and after my sons birth I actually weight less than when I got pregnant.....how many people can say that right? lol. Anyway I guess I really started to pack it on after that because I could well eat and keep it down :) so Ive since struggled to lose weight and have succeeded only to have it come right back in full force. So here we are today and I am about 37-40 lbs overweight. I have been working out religiously and haven't dropped a lbs. Grrrrrr. Getting frustrated but I'm not giving up...and honestly I cant blame anything but myself in this. I haven't followed a strict diet and have tried to do this with mostly exercise.....But that all stops now! well not the exercise part but the diet, or lack there of. I am beginning a low carb diet consisting of eggs for breakfast, string cheese or some nuts for a snack, salad or leftovers for lunch and repeat the mid morning snack, Dinner will be chicken and veggies, steak and veggies etc. dessert will be a sugar free jello with whip cream. And a minimum of 64 oz. of water per day. the first few days are always the hardest so I need to prepare for this and have everything I need available which is why I will be starting on Mon. morning. I will be posting daily with a log of my eating and my exercising for the day and how I'm feeling. I need to succeed at this because I deserve it and I am a better person for my family and myself when I am healthy and feeling comfortable in my own skin. I hope that my struggle can help someone else succeed in their goals.
